We went camping at Inks Lake State Park this weekend. It’s a short drive from Austin and has some great scenery. The campgrounds are nice, we had a little stream that ran right through ours. I waited until the last minute to make the reservations and all they had left were primitive sites. The hike to the campsite wasn’t too bad, however the lake is near the park entrance which meant we were about a mile hike from it. If you prefer more convenience or plan on using the lake a lot during your trip I would recommend making a reservation early and requesting a regular camp site.
